about
OdeHere (46 Poems)

I'm English, a Northener, hailing from Liverpool and brought up in Wales. As a child, I spoke fluent Welsh. Welsh is a language that I can only describe as, 'painting pictures'. You don't literally say what you mean, but convey what you mean. I think that is why my poems use more imagery than you would at first suspect. I choose words and topics that the reader can personalise, that link to different arcs but only I know the original origin, journey and destination of each. We can all see our own stories in the words of others, you just have to use your imagination. It's all about connection. There is no wrong definition of a poem. I love how the combination of some words can evoke feelings and trigger thoughts you believed to be long gone. My poems are meant to be read aloud. I hope you read them aloud to yourself and to others to feel the sound of them. I am happy for all to retweet and share my poetry but ALWAYS WITH CREDIT but feel the need to say I retain copyright! I hope they bring a little light into your life. Jane

Refugees

When there’s nowhere left but hope
You leave for there by the train or boat.
Your life upon your back
You can’t avoid the flak.

hamster holiday

Taxi beep whilst still asleep
Squeaky wheels & plastic meals Sunny sun & summer fun
Tired eyes are no surprise

Another holiday to recover?

Secret smile

The swell that builds to fall.
A tell, so clawed in awe,
It flutters soft to sigh.
See the smile of my surprise.

intensive careless

Why are there sailors of the land?
Who are the farmers of the sea?
Where are the birds in my hand?
What do the wise fail to be?

London

London
Pick n mix inhalation
London
A street from starvation
London
The fix of a nation
London
Feeds procrastination
London.
Mutation.

Journey

Stagnant stood the ripened fruit,
It’s fading flag afurl.
Strength within, grew suit anew.
All along was the girl.

Move on

Thoughts sift along my day
The night dwells on those chosen.
Always the same, to drain my life away?
I live in a past I’ve frozen.

One day

Sometimes, most days, I know you think of me,
Someday, one time, I know you’ll tell me.
One day, sometime.
I know.

Faceless

Every face worn, in time,
Blurs into blurb. We risk
Morphing into the same,
Like a mist of politics.
We all hide.

Crossroads

Twist or stick,
It’s that simple.
One call, one flick.
Reel into real unto the dimpled mist.
Fake control,
Cake reason.
Shake up.
